The silk filling is pulled by hand using traditional Chinese techniques layer by layer and hand-tacked to prevent slipping, resulting in a Puffy & Soft texture. It is advised not to quilt in order to maintain the integrity of the long-strand silk fillings. Beware of comforters with large quilting as they may contain low-grade spun silk.

Tips for Authenticating Real Silk: Pluck a few strands from the silk filling and hold them over a flame. Genuine silk will smell like burning hair and leave behind black, powdery ash. It will cease burning once removed from the flame. Synthetic fibers will emit a plastic-like smell, produce black smoke and a black ball of residue, continuing to burn even after being removed from the flame. Cotton or Viscose will smell like burning paper.
